Marek Wiechers

Marek Wiechers, born in 1976 in Braunschweig, studied law in Göttingen and Berlin. He previously worked at the German Bundestag in the Scientific Services and as a policy advisor at the Saxon State Ministry for Science and the Arts in Dresden. Since 2007, he has served the City of Munich in various roles, including Deputy Head of the Youth Office and, from 2012, in the Office of the Lord Mayor overseeing the cultural sector. From 2019, he was City Director and Permanent Deputy in the Department of Cultural Affairs. Since 1 July 2025, Wiechers has been the Head of the Department of Cultural Affairs of the City of Munich.
