This year’s workshop, titled Under the Volcano, brought together 50 talented young filmmakers from across the globe, including participants from the United States, Mexico, Germany, China, India, and Malta.
The group was made up of 25 directors and 25 cinematographers, who were paired to create imaginative, humorous, and heartfelt short films. These films were inspired by the stories of local residents who experienced the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano just three years ago.
Under the guidance of Werner Herzog and his director of photography, Peter Zeitlinger, the participants crafted unique and compelling works. Several of these films, personally selected by Werner Herzog, will be screened at the Filmmuseum Munich on December 7th.
